Liability Insurance (aansprakelijkheidsverzekering) is a type of insurance policy that safeguards you against claims resulting from injury and damage to other people or property. Here are some common situations for which liability insurance provides coverage:
- You accidentally ride your bike into someone, causing them to break their arm.
- While playing football, you miss the goal and the ball breaks your neighbor’s window.
Liability Insurance does not cover your personal possessions, in case of damage or loss. Contents insurance (inboedelverzekering) is a separate policy which covers your belongings, meaning all the items you bring to your apartment, such as your laptop, or additional furniture/furnishings.
